From those who have to those who need!

Humid it was, and the winds were scant,

A termite here, and there an ant;

The windows creaked as they were being shut down.

The blue paint peeled to reveal the Brown.

In the garden where two frogs mated in peace;

A rat snake had slithered in to dine at ease.

Why, in the jungle, you get to live, she frowned,

"Do you even smell a civilization around?"

"I am a soldier", I declared with pride ,

And you, strong lady, are always by my side.

Her smile took the place of the face-wide frown.

Such was the last day in the white walled town.

Shifting towns has its own sweet trials.

Heaps of old clothes and toys covered up the aisles.

How do we dump them, I reflected, concerned;

Either we throw them, or can they be burned.

"No" declared my little son, don't do that Dad;

I have a brilliant idea for which you'll be glad.

With shining eyes we stuffed the car

With all old things we drove a little too far

To the streets where shadows linger long,

And to that hearts of gold that have stayed strong;

For nothing they had, their hands were bare,

At each passer by, their eyes did stare.

As we handed a women, for her son, a toy,

She turned and danced and sang aloud with joy.

Her eyes aglow with dreams untold.

In the relentless night, a hope to behold.

Her face had lit, as she beckoned her son;

With nothing, in fact, we had a lot hearts won.

In laughter, and in their twirling glee,

The dance of joy, pure and free,

For what was once, in closets stored,

Now sparks a flame, a joy restored.

To see them dance, to hear their cheer,

Was a gift of love, so crystal clear.

We moved back home, now clean and free:

My mind but rushed to the child and she

Who were happy with the little we gave and went;

A thousand blessings, with us, they had sent.

I peeped into the garden where the frogs lay sound asleep;

Perhaps the snake had some other promises to keep.
