Explained: Farm Protests or a Conflict of Charisma?

We will not forget this Republic day of 2021. At least, not I will! Though covered differently by different media houses, the incident of sponsored rampant has certainly tarnished our image as responsible Indian citizens.

Language is a very strong tool to express thoughts and emotions – strong enough to be able to create as well as destroy people and ideologies. The power of words, therefore cannot be undermined. We, as rational human beings, must understand how words are manipulated to urge people to kill each other. Though humans are hardwired to be compassionate towards fellow human beings, they, through the manipulation of words, can be strongly motivated to destroy. You will have to believe me that there is a strong relationship between destruction and words. Effective propaganda techniques are used by influencers to convince soldiers to go to wars, whereas the same might seem quite avoidable and unimportant. The soldiers are not told that they are going to kill someone who has a family, a son, a daughter, or parents behind, they are convinced that they are killing an enemy for which they deserve an honor. The soldiers, as compassionate human beings would not want to kill. They are coerced to do so by forcing such words in their mind that motivate them to eliminate a threat - an enemy. This makes things easier for them, however, at a cost of hatred and discrimination.

Nations and their capable leaders must stop manipulating language for justifying destructions by any means, whatsoever. In disastrous situations such as wars or civil unrest, it is the people who suffer massive destruction which cannot be reasonably justified by any amount of persuasion. A portrayal of victimization is not an excuse for destruction. It is rather, a vague ideology, reinforced by words for socio-political benefits. The language that encourages destruction and unrest affects every participant. This includes such manipulations that make all acts of mistreatment imaginable, doable, and justifiable. I am sorry I’ll have to use a bitter tome to express my anguish as I find it absurd and farcical to justify the destruction and belittle human status to a lesser degree.

We, as humans (if we are), can easily distinguish and contrast the language used by peaceful humans and those associated with instigation and warmongering and can clearly bring out how words are maneuvered to induce a feeling of justification of horrendous acts. For example, you know why prisoners are referred to as it and people as targets. This trains the people to believe that the people opposite to them are not humans but enemies, and enemies must be eliminated. The Indian farmer leaders have villainized their opponents due to which it has become easier for the common farmer to consider that the lives and properties, of those whom they consider their enemies, are unimportant and that the destruction is justified to achieve a larger goal in the interest of the country. Language is created to motivate people to believe that the people on the other side are killable so that the innate queasiness over killing a human being can be overcome. While some may believe that dehumanizing people for a larger cause, especially if the cause is in the interest of the nation, is justifiable, I trust the contrary, I apologize!

One day the people of our country will rise over personal interests and realize how words used during times of conflict are fundamentally false and void and lack evidence, reason, logic, and detail. I would want the readers to ponder and form an opinion. My idea is based on the assumption that causing willful destruction and civil unrest is not easy as it is not genetically hardwired into human beings as they tend to be social animals. Most people would find it difficult to destroy or kill under normal circumstances and I believe that this assertion cannot be straightaway denied. My intentions may well be misunderstood by a casual reader. However, upon deeper comprehension, one would understand, I believe. Destruction through words and subsequent actions is never a good idea, and language, as such, must not be manipulated for the justification thereof. Language, my dear countrymen, is a great tool and could be used to create a psychological chasm between people, thereby widening the gap of hostility and curtailing compassion and humanity. Not only farmers and soldiers, each individual, as a fellow human being, as a creation of the almighty. The status of the country, however, takes the utmost precedence. It is dangerous to ignore what I have said as blind faith in the political system or barbarian acts are not the solutions to the problems of human beings. It is important not to objectify human beings. Dehumanization of human beings for selfish purposes would lead to disastrous outcomes. Wake up dear citizens, not for your selfish motives, but for the country. Respect the democracy. Respect the country. Things would fall back in the right place. We need to channelize our energy, our faiths, and think, and move in the right direction.
